Project Announcement: Optimizing Throughput Across Aviation Repair Activities

The US Navy and Marine Corps are partnering with industry and academia on an initiative to develop an integrated set of tools and processes that provide a common operating picture of all repair activities across an aircraft maintenance organization to help improve overall MRO (Maintenance, Repair, and Overhaul) operations and throughput. Due to the varied nature of repair requirements at the NAE intermediate and depot Level, two models are required. As the DOD explores alternative maintenance practices, including certification of intermediate level maintainers in depot level tasks, the opportunity exists to pilot an integration of these models to further optimize resource allocation.
