Project Announcement: Enhanced Modeling and Simulation Software to Improve Vehicle Reliability and Durability – Phase II

The US Department of Defense is partnering with industry and academia on a multiphase CTMA initiative to enhance the flexibility, applicability, and usage of Chrono Vehicle open-source software library infrastructure by allowing vehicle models to be exchanged and simulated in larger contexts and with different software tools. The overall goal will be to adopt an established standard, a Functional Mock-up Interface (FMI), for model exchange and co-simulation.

In Phase II of this initiative, the focus will be the adoption of the FMI standard and development of a framework in which Chrono Vehicle models are exposed as functional mock-up units (FMUs) and can interact with other FMUs.
