Project Announcement: Digital Enterprise Technology for Maintenance and Sustainment Improvements

The US Department of Defense is partnering with industry and academia on an initiative to identify and address the myriad complexities associated with USG/industry collaboration in cloud-based PLM environments to enable the pursuit of data-centricity under its network modernization strategy, while eliminating barriers to entry to the digital transformation for both government and the commercial industry. This initiative will use the Optionally Manned Fighting Vehicle (OMFV) as a surrogate model to evaluate the utility of cloud-based PLM tools while developing best practices for industry/government collaboration with Digital Enterprise technologies—in a Digital Enterprise multi-cloud environment.

This initiative’s approach must include providing a secure, cloud-based infrastructure environment for tools, platform data, and business data; demonstrating Digital Enterprise capabilities that utilize digital data and information libraries to support the OMFV, along with other platforms; developing a workforce bridge training programs to support OMFV Digital Enterprise usages.

Key objectives include:

  • Demonstrating digital enterprise capabilities that utilize digital data and information libraries to support the OMFV program
  • Developing a cloud-based infrastructure environment for tools, platform data, and business data with access to all program stakeholders to improve development, testing, manufacturing, and sustainment decisions
  • Refining workforce development education material to inform how digitalization and access to program data can reduce sustainment costs and speed integration
