Project Announcement: Dark Deceiver Maritime Data Collection Sensor Development and Demonstration

The US Department of Defense is partnering with industry and academia on an initiative to support maritime data collection for maintenance activities, specifically supporting energy, environmental, health, and safety initiatives. The high-level objectives include:

  • Evolving a maritime data collection platform for maritime assets which remotely transmit these data from distributed maritime locations to a central location for interpretation and potential follow-on action.
  • Demonstrating data collection of multiple signals, providing effective data collection for use in open ocean, port, harbors, littorals, and all locations where public, commercial commerce, and the US Navy will go.
  • Executing a demonstration in an environment that includes a mixture of public, commercial commerce, and military assets.
