Project Announcement: Aircraft Maintenance Optimization Program (AMOP)

The US Department of Defense is partnering with industry and academia on an initiative to provide operations integration and maintenance and supply management support that develops an executable maintenance plan through improved operations and management integration, short and long-term maintenance planning, logistics/operational supply chain demand planning and IMRL and SE management.

The overall goal of this initiative is to improve the institutional level training continuum and deliver effective maintenance managers with skill sets that foster the production of the required number of mission ready aircraft and support equipment available. To promote a healthy and effective maintenance base, the specific goals include:

  • Assisting in the development of an Annualized Maintenance Plan (AMP)
  • Aligning near and long-term resource/material requirements to include deployment cycle planning.
  • Promoting operations and maintenance planning synchronization
  • Ensuring organizational level maintenance planning ties closely to supply demand plans and forecast.
  • Sustaining improvement in Bill of Material (BOM) health and increased material availability of long lead time components/consumables deemed essential for high readiness and operational tempo now and in the future.
  • Assisting in the development of a logistics material planning document.
