Project Announcement: Advanced Tire Technologies to Improve Fleet Readiness and Sustainment – Phase II

The DOD is partnering with industry and academia on a multi-phase CTMA initiative to demonstrate and validate the capabilities and cost-effectiveness of advanced tire technologies using carbon fiber to demonstrate a support-ring runflat tire. Tire designs will be developed and put through stringent testing to ensure the tire can achieve specific requirements. After a suitable design is developed, a prototype tire will be produced and submitted for further testing and validation.

In Phase II, goals will include:

  • Increasing top run-flat speed from 30 mph to 50 mph.
  • Increasing the run-flat range from 30 miles to 50 miles (at 50 mph).
  • Reducing production cost by 20% compared with current tire/run-flat inserts.
  • Reducing the weight of new HMMWV tire/run-flat insert by 20% minimum.

If you feel your organization has the technical capabilities and would like to be considered for this project, please complete the form below and upload your organization’s technical capabilities statement.

Interested Submissions Due by 8/8/2023.
