Project Announcement: Advanced Manufacturing Processes for Improved Maintenance and Sustainment Environments

The US Department of Defense is partnering with industry and academia on an initiative to test and demonstrate three innovative technologies that will improve the maintenance and sustainment capabilities of a maintenance depot by improving worker safety, decreasing costly re-work and mistakes, and improving training to safely meet the requirements of working in a maintenance and sustainment environment.

This initiative will focus on testing and demonstrating the use and benefits of:

  • AM handheld laser welding
  • handheld and portable coordinate measuring machines (CMM)
  • automated analysis and control for inorganic stripping processes

By testing these new technologies across multiple areas common to maintenance and sustainment organizations, this effort will demonstrate the benefits of improving multiple processes to address issues of concern.

If you feel your organization has the technical capabilities and would like to be considered for this project, please complete the form below and upload your organization’s technical capabilities statement.

Interested Submissions Due by 10/24/23.

We encourage participation of Disadvantaged Business Enterprises (DBEs), including Minority Business Enterprises (MBEs) and Women’s Business Enterprises (WBEs).
