Intelligent Management Analysis System (IMAS)

Increasing aviation safety is a primary design and operational goal for aircraft flying within the industrialized nations. Decreasing the failure probability requires a platform sustainment methodology that continually improves the ability to detect and mitigate functional degradation before failure occurs. Prognostics find precursors prior to failures; diagnostics helps find root causes to recurring problems. Resolving prognostics and diagnostics quickly saves time and money via cost avoidance. OEM designs are based on statistical methods that utilize worst case, averaged correlation metrics without regard to operational contexts. IMAS, through its unique enterprise “associative memory” capability fuses CBM data sources such as mission types, operational contexts, health usage maintenance system sensor data, logged alerts, and maintenance report data sets across platforms. IMAS can process vast amounts of data from multiple sources, identifies correlations that, if acted upon, can allow a more effective CBM strategy that directly impacts the end customer through lower costs and aircraft availability.

This project will focus on the H60 helicopter fleet that is used commercially and across the DoD Services. The demonstration is intended to replicate COTS prognostic/diagnostic analysis at a DoD facility for documenting cost and benefits of IMAS to improve operational readiness levels via utilization of artificial intelligence inspired linked-data analysis systems compared to conventional database record keeping systems. The goal of the project is to transition IMAS to a joint platform supporting CBM+.
