NCMS Technology Showcase at Portsmouth Naval Shipyard Supports Warfighter Readiness

While the Portsmouth Naval Shipyard was busy repairing and modernizing a variety of Los Angeles-class attack submarines, approximately 1,700 shipyard staff prioritized time to attend the recent NCMS Technology Showcase. The event introduced new and innovative technologies, products, and processes that could assist the maintenance and sustainment communities with filling unmet needs at the best cost. There were over 36 industry, academia, and non-profit exhibitors from across the U.S. that demonstrated their commercially-available applications, equipment, and machinery that could enhance warfighter readiness.

This event answers the call to increase the warfighter readiness level, which is a priority within the Department of Defense (DoD). It is more imperative than ever to bring industry and government together to solve maintenance and sustainment challenges. Submarines are one of the most difficult environments in which to work.  NCMS is pleased to have partnered with the Office of the Secretary of Defense (OSD) and the U.S. Navy through NCMS’ Commercial Technologies for Maintenance Activities (CTMA) Program to let maintainers at the shipyard learn more about what industry can offer.

Participating organizations in the Technology Showcase were:  Aptima, Aspire Solutions, Atlas Copco, Big Kaiser Precision Tooling, CS Unitec, DIT-MCO International, East Coast Metrology, Eclypse International, Elevate Systems, Encompass Machines Inc., Equipois, LLC, FARO Technologies, GasTops, Hexagon, Hydratight, Impacto, InterTest, KRI at Northeastern University, Maglogix, LLC, Mathey Dearman, Measurement Solutions Group, MELD Manufacturing Corporation, MSC Industrial Supply, PTC ThingWorx, ReverseEngineering.com, SurClean, Inc., Temple Allen Industries, Universal Synaptics, VRC Metal Systems, Worchester Polytechnic Institute
