Shareable Operational Resources Tool (SORT)

NCMS Project #: 140469

Problem: There is no automated ability or common process across deployed forces to identify excess or demand for logistical support, supplies or maintenance services to DoD and Allied Forces in support of a common mission. This, in turn, increases the need for strategic lift, increases the deployed footprint which must continually be inventoried and protected, and adds little to the operational capability of the deployed forces.

Benefit: Efficiency and capabilities can be gained by the refinement of business practices that leverage the visibility and assignment of maintenance and logistics capabilities across Nations and Services.

Solution/Approach: SORT is a Multi-National Task Force Project in partnership with Great Britain and Canada to create a more efficient and effective coalition warfighter capability for nations executing operations or exercises in a specific theater. SORT is a web-enabled capability to define and expose to partner nations, and their support structure, items or services that a nation is willing to share with its coalition partners along with available lifecycle management information.

Impact on Warfighter: SORT will reduce the need for duplicative supply, logistics and maintainer footprints currently caused by nations individually planning and executing their logistics support.
