June 20, 2013. NCMS, in collaboration with Puget Sound Naval Shipyard & IMF and NUWC Keyport, WA, held the 2nd Annual Underwater Vehicle Competition at Olympic High School Pool in Bremerton, WA. This event, aimed at promoting higher education in the fields of science, technology, engineering and math, hosted 116 students from 15 western Washington schools.

An upcoming event will mark the launch of a new research center at George Mason University, with GMU administrators, staff from the National Center for Manufacturing Sciences (NCMS), government officials, and representatives from the transportation industry in attendance. The occasion celebrates the Center for Collision Safety and Analysis at GMU, and is scheduled for Tuesday, May 7th, 2:00-4:00 p.m. in the Research Hall’s Showcase Room on GMU’s Fairfax Campus.

Michigan Governor Rick Snyder saluted Michigan Robotics Day, which “…highlights to the rest of Michigan and the entire country how important robotics are,” and by its third year has grown to one of the premier events celebrating National Robotics Week. He also answered questions on a wide range of subjects during a Q&A session moderated by NCMS President & CEO Rick Jarman.
