Project Announcement: Inspection and Fractographic Analysis to Develop a Digital Twin for a Legacy Aircraft – Phase V

The U.S. Air Force is partnering with industry and academia on a multi-phase CTMA initiative to use the B-1 to provide a model/template that addresses how to create detailed digital twins for legacy aircraft where much of the requisite technical data is missing. The objective of Phase V is to build on the work begun during Phases I-IV with specific focus on systems components. This effort will include development and validation of processes to identify systems components, isolate them from surrounding airframe structure, clean them to facilitate scanning, scan them to generate a high-fidelity point cloud, model them to be representative of the OML shape, and integrate them into the digital twin being developed.
