Project Announcement: Improving Design Processes to Reduce Manufacturing Risks for Subcomponents

The US Department of Defense is partnering with industry and academia on an initiative to develop and demonstrate a manufacturing process and an updated technical data package for armored vehicles to facilitate flexible variants and tailor ability of protection packages to meet specific threats. The team will use the Army’s AMPV as a surrogate to research, refine, and design a common armor skirt to all five AMPV variant platforms ensuring the fleets future to enhance mobility, maneuverability, lethality, and operational safety.
