Project Announcement: Fleet Exercise Section Electronic Sub-System Evaluation

The U.S. Navy seeks to update electronic systems in the MK 54 Lightweight Hybrid Torpedo, documenting the current Electronics Sub-System’s (ESS) functional requirements and current interfaces and assessing future capabilities, which will be added to the ESS to meet future requirements and maintain compatibility with newer interfaces and standards.

In the MK 54 Exercise Configuration, the ESS of the Fleet Exercise Section (FES) performs functions related to safety, exercise control, measurement and data recording, run termination, and data extraction. The data collected by the ESS is used to assess hardware performance and reliability for the MK 54 Program. The current ESS has become obsolete, making maintenance and supportability more difficult and increasing the time needed to identify and isolate failures. It also currently lacks adequate card-level test set capabilities to assist with fault isolation, troubleshooting, and repair.

Those interested in participating should complete the following form by April 13, 2018. We encourage participation of Disadvantaged Business Enterprises (DBEs), including Minority Business Enterprises (MBEs) and Women’s Business Enterprises (WBEs).
