Project Announcement: Dual-Use Technologies for Highly Electrified Vehicles to Reduce Maintenance and Sustainment Activities

The US Army is partnering with industry and academia on an initiative to demonstrate how dual use technologies, integrated with Highly Electrified Vehicles (HEVs) can reduce fuel usage, increase reliability, reduce maintenance, and reduce the logistical burden of hauling multiple oversized generators to the point of need while still meeting the demands for temporary power in austere environments. The overall goal will be to leverage commercial, automotive, and industrial components to develop components that will aggregate to form a two-man portable, vehicle-based, fast-forming microgrid.
