Project Announcement: Confined Space Monitoring for Operations Safety and Efficiency

The U.S. Navy is working with industry and academia to develop a Confined Space Monitoring System (CSMS) platform that is suitable for technology insertion into confined space working environments within shipyards, primarily relating to conducting maintenance and sustainment activities.

Specifically, the initiative is intended to:

  • Produce an extended system design specification to meet U.S. Navy shipyard requirements.
  • Produce a prototype system build that meets the extended system design specification.
  • Complete a test and evaluation of the extended prototype system in a representative shipyard environment
