Project Announcement: Automated Armory Evaluation

The U.S. Marine Corps (USMC) is interested in automating the tracking of small arms throughout its armories, thereby eliminating the slow, cumbersome process of manual record-keeping, a potential source of human error. It seeks support in determining the feasibility and cost-effectiveness of a potential system in light of current USMC regulations, policies, and practices.

This automated inventory system may incorporate technologies such as biometrics, barcodes, and digital signatures, as well as existing Department of Defense security and inventory management systems, such as Common Access Cards (CAC) and Item Unique Identification (IUID).
