Participating in the CTMA Technology Competition Brings Benefits—Exposure, Program Management, Funding

For all who haven’t yet entered the CTMA Technology Competition, the window of opportunity is closing. The deadline for entering is Friday, October 1, 2021. The only requirements to participate are one quad chart and one abstract.

The purpose of this competition is to bring more companies, especially small and medium-sized companies, to the attention of military partners searching for innovative technologies that can solve maintenance and sustainment challenges.

And past entrants agree—the experience brings many benefits.

“Participating in the CTMA Technology Competition and the DOD Maintenance Innovation Challenge was an important catalyst as we transitioned our Large-Standoff, Large-Area Thermography (LASLAT) technology into a commercial product,” says Maria Frendberg Beemer, Project Manager for Thermal Wave Imaging. Her company won both the 2017 CTMA Technology Competition and the 2016 Maintenance Innovation Challenge.

“The competitions served as a platform to introduce our technology to a wide range of potential users, who helped us further refine the technology through their feedback and questions,” says Beemer.

The CTMA Technology Competition provides an opportunity for industry, academic, and government sources to showcase innovative ways of making maintenance and sustainment operations more agile, effective, efficient, and affordable. Entrants can bring their innovations to the attention of high-level DOD maintenance decision-makers and showcase their achievements in a productive atmosphere.

The top six candidates will present their innovative solutions on December 8, 2021, via a virtual platform, to a collection of high-level DOD maintenance and sustainment personnel. The virtual event is free to attend, so everyone can learn more about the entries the judges want to learn more about. During that event, an overall award winner and a People’s Choice award winner will be named. What’s more, NCMS will make available $100,000 in project support funding to those two winners. Each will be granted $50,000 to enable them to take part in a selected DOD demonstration activity, to the extent permitted under the existing CTMA cooperative agreement.
