Project Announcement: Redesign of Engine Production Lines to Sustain Manufacturing Capabilities

The U.S. Army is partnering with industry and academia to pilot and demonstrate a common process and set of tools to effectively and efficiently restart a previously deactivated new AGT1500 engine production line at Anniston Army Depot (ANAD). This will help maintain and sustain the Army’s organic industrial base’s ability to continue the production of the Abrams tank to meet new requirements. It will also demonstrate applicability across a broad range of potential manufacturing facilities that could be restarted and repurposed.
