Project Announcement: Combat Vehicle Lightweight Efforts

A major goal of this project is to enable the evaluation of lightweight components for very heavy vehicles. This project will support efforts to improve SWaP-C by determining if replacing components with lightweight equivalent parts is possible. Components will be large, and multi-material solutions are envisioned. More than one component will be investigated. Government furnished data may be Distribution D.

Partners should possess the ability to produce computer aided design drawings of vehicle components. Prototypes of these components will be designed, analyzed, built, and tested. Partners will need to fabricate or source the fabrication of prototype parts for evaluation. Components must be complaint with the original components, meaning painting, protecting, and joining components is required. Durability and operational performance must be maintained while weight savings is achieved. The project also includes failure mode effects analysis for new prototype components. Partners may need to work with classified information.

Those interested in participating in this project should contact Lisa Stobierski, by September 21, 2017.  We encourage participation of Disadvantaged Business Enterprises (DBEs), including Minority Business Enterprises (MBEs) and Women’s Business Enterprises (WBEs).
