High Power Electrical Distribution Unit Redesign for Low Cost Components, Obsolescence Mitigation, and Performance Improvements

The U.S. Army is partnering with industry and academia to identify an obsolescence and supply chain risk-mitigated common legacy electronic component design across a family of vehicles and improvements for high-power distribution and motion controls. The hope is this design will lead to lower maintenance and sustainment costs.  The three primary objectives of this project are to:

  • Design a new TDCU replacement that provides a low-cost design for high-power distribution with significant space, weight, and power savings, and obsolescence/supply chain risk mitigation
  • Provide measurable performance gains versus the existing gun, turret, and TOW missile stabilization routines
  • Develop production test equipment for the new TDCU
