Modification to Manufacturing Demonstration Tool-Set for Maintenance & Sustainment Support – Phase III-A of the Integrated Digital Resource Network (IDRN)

NCMS Project #: 140955

Problem: In the maintenance and sustainment realm, using outdated information could have detrimental effects to the equipment and greatly shorten the productive lifespan.

Benefit: When the maintenance and sustainment data of critical equipment can be integrated into a new synchronistic platform, while introducing updated information the ease, quality, and techniques of the maintenance will be superior.

Solution/Approach: Phase I was able to integrate manufacturing and engineering by connecting machines directly to the infrastructure at each Fleet Research Center (FRC). Individual Data models, connections to machines and initial integrations to corporate systems were established and demonstrable. Phase II created a central PLM repository at NAVAIR HQ and added standard Configuration Management and Program Management functionality and capabilities for the Quality Management domain. In Phase III IRDN integration product/strategy was leveraged to explore ability to meet the needs of the NAVAIR financial community. In Phase III-A, five file system connectors will be added with full production support for 12 months.
