Problem: Time dependent competition for resources, to include money, people, and equipment, across known and unknown demands creates a complex decision environment for leaders and operators of large private and public sector organizations. The technology gap associated with bringing together disparate data, automated workflow and intelligent predictive analytics results in higher product costs, job uncertainty and puts American industry at risk against our near peer competitors potentially impacting the U.S. economy.
Benefit: Lessons learned will be applicable across a wide variety of other Services, and commercial entities who are tasked with maintenance and sustainment of fleets and operations. Effectively bridging together disparate data will be lower costs of goods, higher quality of goods and services, and the creation of additional jobs which strengthen the economy.
Solution/Approach: This initiative will bring together disparate data, provide for automated workflow, and will demonstrate decision support applications that will enable larger organizations to move from reactive to predictive decision-making regarding resourcing of equipment, spare parts, manpower (hiring) and other maintenance-centric functions. Phase II will expand on the Phase I efforts through a more in-depth investigation of the initial work and will document means and methods to facilitate technology transition to other Services and organizations. The project will use one of the world’s largest organizations, the U.S. Army, as a surrogate to demonstrate this technology.
