Maturing Data Solutions (MDS) to Improve Maintenance and Sustainment

NCMS Project #: 142194

Problem: By most estimations, an average of 80% of any data analytics project is focused on data wrangling – loading data, cleaning data, transforming data, etc.  Improving data quality and the credibility of data has the ability to become a force multiplier by minimizing the amount of effort data practitioners must expend to just get the data in a place where it can be used for analytics.

Benefit: Project deliverables will benefit the commercial industry by demonstrating the effectiveness of actively maturing analytics and IT solutions, in addition to the potential for MDM solutions to improve an organization’s data-driven decision making.  Additionally, the deliverables will also demonstrate that data quality and cleaning efforts have a transformative effect on the quality of an organization’s decision-making process.

Solution/Approach: Mature Data Solutions are especially critical in the Maintenance and Sustainment industry, where industries worldwide are undergoing a digital transformation to achieve orders of magnitude gains in speed and accuracy of information flow and operational efficiencies across all functional areas of the business enterprise.  MDS will take the next logical step by focusing on “micro” requirements – including data quality, cleanliness, and availability – by building upon existing architectures to operationalize the art of enhancing/preserving data integrity to the benefit commercial sustainment operations and DOD.
