Full Authority Digital Engine Control (FADEC) Systems

NCMS Project #: 140507

Problem: DoD routinely performs overhauls, modifications, scheduled maintenance and unscheduled maintenance at various operational locations.  The traditional approach to the maintenance of electrical and electronic systems has been reactionary, waiting for faults to occur and then trying to diagnose and fix the problem.

Benefit: Increased readiness and reliability of the MH-47G and the MH-6M.  Successful demonstration of the AWTS technology on the FADEC systems will be transferable-applicable to the entire C/MH-47 fleet, the entire MH-6M fleet, and the OH-58D fleet which uses the same FADEC as the MH-6M.

Solution/Approach: Develop new and improved techniques to utilize software and hardware tools to improve the reliability of Full Authority Digital Engine Control (FADEC) systems on both the MH-47G and MH-6M.
