Digital Acquisition and Development to Enable Lower Cost Maintenance and Sustainment

NCMS Project #: 142127

Problem: The digital revolution is here and is creating transformational changes in industries around the world.  Many manufacturers and sustainers are behind the curve in adopting and leveraging digital acquisition, manufacturing and sustainment methods, as is evident by the fact they are burdened with very old, obsolete systems that are experiencing compounding maintenance and sustainment costs

Benefit: Lessons learned in the project will enable other industries who are behind the digital curve to realize modernization advantages from the digital revolution.

Solution/Approach: This project will develop, prove, and validate digital technologies using the new Optionally Manned Fighting Vehicle (OMFV) program to demonstrate new methods for successful rapid fielding and lower total lifecycle manufacturing, maintenance and sustainment costs.  The intent of the initiative is to use the Army OMFV program as an example of how industries who are behind the digital curve can overcome hurdles to digital adoption and take advantage of the disruptive digital revolution.
