Ann Arbor, MI –  April 5, 2016. The National Center for Manufacturing Sciences (NCMS), the nation’s leader in collaborative technology hosted the sixth annual Michigan Robotics Day today partnering with the University of Michigan’s School of Engineering. Ford Motor Company is the exclusive sponsor of this event, which has grown into the nation’s premier event celebrating National Robotics Week.

In an effort to foster national competitiveness and entrepreneurship in this important engineering and manufacturing space, the United States Congress created National Robotics Week to further innovation and education in the field of automated robotics. Michigan Robotics Day draws top talent, research, and manufacturing for creating relationships, connecting enterprises, and stimulating inspiration. Opening remarks will be presented by special guest Representative Debbie Dingell (D-Dearborn), from Michigan’s 12th Congressional District.

“NCMS is proud to continue our legacy of promoting robotics and future innovation for this critically important technology”, said Rick Jarman, President and CEO of NCMS. “When this event started six years ago, we hoped to reach the level of engagement and collaboration with Michigan students, industry and researchers that we are seeing today.”

Michigan Robotics Day brings together the biggest offering of robotics, innovators, students, and manufacturers in the state. From live demonstrations to academia and the private sector, robots that fly, walk, roll, and swim will be illustrating where robotics is now and where it’s going.  The highlight of the event will be a tour of Mcity a facility dedicated to the testing of autonomous vehicles. The Michigan State Police will be showcasing their drones, including those used for bomb disposal and underwater operations. Finally, robotics teams at both the high school and college levels will be displaying their projects.
