Joint Technology Exchange Group (JTEG)

The purpose of the Joint Technology Exchange Group (JTEG) is to  improve coordination in the introduction of new or improved technology, new processes, or new equipment into DoD depot maintenance activities. Composed of representatives from the military services, the Defense Logistics Agency (DLA), the Joint Chiefs of Staff, and the Office of the Deputy Assistant Secretary of Defense for Maintenance Policy & Programs (ODASD-MPP) – JTEG is a strong advocate for new technology solutions with the potential to increase maintenance efficiency or effectiveness across the services.

JTEG actively seeks ways to better leverage technology improvements in depot maintenance through collaboration and facilitation of communication amongst maintenance activities and supporting industry partners. These methods include:

  • Virtual technology forums conducted on a monthly basis
  • Participation in maintenance technology competitions
  • Maintenance/logistics conferences such as the annual CTMA Partners Meeting
  • JTEG website
  • CTMA venues – CTMA Connector
  • Joint Group on DepotMaintenance (JGDM) briefings

JTEG serves as an advocate for any innovation that can assist DoD maintenance in becoming more capable, agile, and/or affordable. Innovations include technology advancements, new business process, strategic partnerships, and new resourcing ideas. The JTEG community includes anyone in DoD, industry, or academia interested in exchanging information associated with DoD maintenance.

Key activities JTEG participated in last year included:

  • Conducted virtual technology forums on:
    • Cybersecurity: Overcoming Challenges to Innovation
    • Laser/Automated Painting and De-Painting
    • Ergonomics: Protecting the Workforce
    • Technology Enhanced Workforce Development
  • Hosted Additive Manufacturing Town Hall
  • Supported judging both the CTMA Technology Competition & DoD Maintenance Innovation Challenge (MIC)
  • Promoted emerging technologies that met joint requirements

JTEG conducts monthly virtual technology forums on the last Tuesday of every month. The forums feature a different technology each month and include participants from across the DoD maintenance community to include military, government civilians, support contractors, and academia.
