Fostering the Industrial Internet to Accelerate Economic Growth and Transformation

The global economy is undergoing a profound transformation as industry and society integrate the sophisticated information technology systems often referred to as the Industrial Internet of Things (IIoT) into modern engineering, production processes, and economic activity.

NCMS Rebecca Taylor recently spoke with industry and legislative leaders on this transition.

Taylor remarks “Manufacturers are starting to see the value of the industrial internet – when operating technology meets information technology. Companies want to evolve from being makers of things into fully digital businesses. Data, combined with faster internet connections, cloud computing, AI, and other technology, can now be easily leveraged and analyzed to improve production efficiencies and better serve their customers. Linking the physical and digital work via the industrial internet of things creates opportunities for industry and government to collaborate on policies that advance the technology and improve American manufacturing.”
