NCMS Opens New Office in Norfolk, Virginia
NCMS has expanded its operations by opening a new office in Norfolk, VA. This new location is the fifth for the organization, joining existing offices in Ann Arbor, MI; Bremerton, WA; Aberdeen, MD; and Washington, DC. This new facility represents a deep commitment to our partners and will provide dedicated space for NCMS’s network to meet and plan collaborative projects.
NCMS recently hosted the 2022 Commercial Technologies for Maintenance Activities (CTMA) Partners Meeting where attendees received early notification of the intended office location. The new office is an investment by NCMS into the region and our partners and members located in the area.
“Norfolk plays a significant role in providing and maintaining the strength and power of the US Navy, so we are thrilled to announce our new office location there,” says Lisa Strama, NCMS President and CEO. “This office will enable us to more effectively serve Norfolk Naval Shipyard, as well as our DOD partners across the US.”
Since 2019, NCMS has worked closely with Norfolk Naval Shipyard on the on the Shipyard Infrastructure Optimization Program (SIOP), the Navy’s once-in-a-century investment to reconfigure, modernize, and optimize Norfolk as well as three other Naval Shipyards: Portsmouth, Puget Sound, and Pearl Harbor. To serve this effort, the CTMA Program launched a collaboration, Shipyard Industrial Analysis, that digitally models Navy shipyards and simulates infrastructure upgrades.
The Shipyard Industrial Analysis project is just one of over seven hundred CTMA collaborations since the program began in 1998. By combining the expertise of government, industry, and academic partners, the CTMA Program successfully fills technology-based capability needs within the maintenance and sustainment communities.
