Autonomous Vehicles Coming to Michigan

Last night Michigan’s Governor, Rick Snyder announced his support for autonomous vehicle licensing in the state. NCMS has been working with the Michigan Department of Transportation (MDOT) to help the Midwest seize the lead in the development and deployment of robotic and autonomous vehicle technology.

The meeting between MDOT officials and NCMS Robotics Strategic Interest Group members at our October meeting helped to make this announcement possible. We are continuing to work with State officials as this proposed legislation moves towards adoption.

We have also invited the Governor speak at 2013 Michigan Robotics Day, that we are planning with the University of Michigan to be held on April 15 at the Jack Roth Club at Michigan Stadium. The agenda will include a full program of keynotes, ground and aerial demonstrations, a job fair, and an Unconference component to allow participants to suggest discussion topics. Pre-Register now for this great event!

If you are interested in joining NCMS to be a part of the Robotics SIG please contact me.
