2018 Maintenance Innovation Challenge Competition Open

Submissions for the 2018 Maintenance Innovation Challenge (MIC) are being accepted! The competition, announced by the Office of the Assistant Secretary of Defense for Maintenance Policy and Programs (OASD MPP), will take place at the Department of Defense (DoD) Maintenance Symposium in Tampa this December. The MIC identifies promising new maintenance technologies with the potential to enhance the maintenance operations of the U.S. Armed Forces, bolstering their readiness and the nation’s security.

NCMS, which facilitates industry-government collaboration through its Commercial Technologies for Maintenance Activities (CTMA) Program, has historically been a strong supporter and proponent of the MIC. As CTMA Program Director Debbie Lilu reminds technology providers, “Submitting a great idea for the Maintenance Innovation Challenge is a great opportunity to get visibility within the DoD.”

Six finalists will be announced in October and will present their submissions in person to a panel of DoD officials in a “shark tank” format. All submissions will be published in a promotional booklet that will be distributed to attendees at the DoD Maintenance Symposium.

Submissions will remain open until September 28, 2018. For more information, or to submit your abstract, visit https://competition.ncms.org/maintenance-innovation-challenge/. For more information about the DoD Maintenance Symposium, go to https://www.sae.org/events/dod/.
