2018 DoD Advanced Composite Maintainers TIM Recap

NCMS thanks all the presenters, exhibitors, and attendees who joined us at North Island Naval Air Station for the 2018 DoD Advanced Composite Maintainers Technical Interchange Meeting. This year’s event took place in Coronado, CA at the Island Club at North Island Naval Air Station between June 12 to 14.

The event featured speeches, working group sessions, and a tabletop reception at which participants showcased their technologies, all focusing on the manufacturing, tooling, deployment, and repair of advanced composite materials in defense settings. There were over 200 individuals in attendance, including representatives from each of the five branches of the Armed Forces, the Army and Air National Guard, and one allied country’s air force, as well as 36 companies and five universities and research institutions.

Fifteen companies demonstrated via tabletop displays, including NCMS members J Chadwick Co and Temple Allen Industries, whose company bios didn’t make it into the event booklet, and are provided below:

Temple Allen Industries

Temple Allen Industries, based in Rockville, MD, designs and manufactures the Easily Manipulated Mechanical Arm (EMMA) and the Wing-Top Sander both 100% pneumatic tools used for an array of sanding, grinding, and polishing tasks on composite structures, primarily aircraft. Temple Allen Industries has worked with the U.S. Navy, U.S. Air Force, Northrop Grumman, Lockheed Martin, and commercial aircraft and ship hull manufacturers.
