AMPing Up
American Manufacturing
The Advanced Manufacturing Partnership (AMP) calls
for a national effort to support the
creation of good jobs by helping
U.S. manufacturers reduce costs, improve
quality, and accelerate product
development. In an effort to transform
advanced manufacturing in the United
States, AMP also aims to identify
opportunities for investments in R&D,
pre-competitive collaboration, and
shared facilities and infrastructure. As
digital manufacturers, this is a perfect
opportunity for us to weigh in and let
our leaders in government know about the
importance of modeling and simulation to
the industrial base and especially to
our small and medium sized companies

The
NCMS effort to bring advanced modeling
and simulation tools powered by high
performance computing (HPC) to America's
manufacturers is gaining national
recognition. The
Harvard Business Review says that digital
manufacturing tools are a prime example
of companies finding new ways to
innovate.
Computerworld estimates that 300,000
companies could benefit from digital manufacturing. |
NCMS Project Wins Great Ideas

You Gotta
Know When to Fold ‘Em
 |
We’re already talking about
parallel collaboration between
humans and computers. We’re
dealing with engineering and
manufacturing challenges that
can be more easily solved
through that collaboration. And
of course one of the objectives
of modeling and simulation is to
solve in days or hours what
would otherwise take months or
years.

Bringing Big Tools to the Little Guys
 |
Currently 84% of companies are making no
use of digital manufacturing technology. These
300,000 companies represent a major
opportunity for the HPC industry to
bring a new level of digital
manufacturing to a group that is
currently still in the digital dark
ages.
