The National Center for Manufacturing Sciences (NCMS) is currently managing (on behalf of the U.S. Navy) a project designed to convert a legacy, paper-based maintenance manual to an electronic form that is compliant with the S1000D international standard for technical manuals. To better understand the scope and scale of the level of effort, NCMS seeks information on rough order of magnitude cost and an approximate schedule.
Information gathered will be used to structure an eventual award where a contractor will work hand-in-hand with U.S. Navy resources at Keyport Naval Undersea Warfare Center to perform a portion of the conversion and to train Keyport resources in the course of that work Infrastructure for authoring and content management is already in place with Arbortext for authoring and Contenta for content management.
