FluidScan Monitor Wins Great Ideas Symposium Award

McLean, Va., January 8, 2008 – QinetiQ North America, a global developer of innovative technology solutions for national defense, today announced that its FluidScan™ monitor has won the 2008 Great Ideas Competition Award presented annually by the Society of Automotive Engineers (SAE) at the Department of Defense (DoD) Maintenance Symposium & Exhibition.  The competition recognizes promising new technologies, processes or business practices that participants decide will have a positive impact on DoD equipment maintenance. 

...This device has the potential, in its simplest application, to provide lab-quality results in real-time for the soldier, marine, airman and sailor in the field under urgent conditions,” said LCDR David Scalf, Commander of the JOAP (Joint Oil Analysis Program) together with DoD’s NCMS/CTMA (National Center for Manufacturing Sciences/Commercial Technologies for Maintenance Activities) program.  NCMS/CTMA championed this product within the DoD community and was responsible for its submission for this competition.

NCMS Recognized with Deal of the Year Award

NCMS has been recognized with a Deal of the Year award presented by the Ann Arbor Business Review.  NCMS was selected for its role in managing the MEDC 21st Century Jobs Fund Business Plan Competition and being chosen by the Department of Defense (DOD) to form and administer the Robotics Technology Consortium (RTC).

The 21st Century Jobs Fund Competition resulted in over $30 million being distributed to Michigan companies to create over 1500 jobs in various hi-tech sectors.  The RTC is a $170 million program which will help speed the deployment of ground robotics technology from the lab to the front lines.

Business Review announces nominees for Deals of the Year

NCMS been nominated for "Deal of the Year" by the Ann Arbor Business Review.

...National Center for Manufacturing Sciences: The Ann Arbor-based center is leading a national robotics consortium after landing a $170 million, seven-year contract with the Department of Defense; it's also administering Michigan's 21st century jobs fund.

The awards will be gieven Nov. 14 in an event which recognizes best and most important deals and transactions in the Ann Arbor business community over the last 12 months.
